| Marie BACUVIER , Attorney (« Avocat ») regulated by the Paris Bar, Registered European Lawyer (at the Solicitor’s Regulation Authority under number 00465236) Marie BACUVIER holds a M. Phil Degree in French employment law (DEA Droit social, Paris I – Panthéon La Sorbonne) and a Postgraduate Degree in business law (DESS Juristes d’affaires, Paris XII – Créteil). She practiced as a French lawyer (“avocat”) in the employment law department of several highly regarded international law firms based in Paris, both on legal advice and litigation aspects, for French and international clients (Ernst & Young, Salans). She then moved to London, joined BM & Associés in 2007 as partner in order to set up the London office. Since 1st July 2009, she works in London as a sole practitioner and becomes BM Avocatss’ privileged correspondent in French employment law. Marie Bacuvier focuses mainly on French employment law aspects. She frequently acts as an avocat for respondents and claimants in French employment courts (such as “Conseil des Prud’hommes”). She advises Franco-British and International clients (employers or employees) from various branches of Industry (banks, engineering companies, IT, hotels, metallurgy, luxury, chemical, domestic employers) on the following aspects of French employment Law: employment contracts (negotiation, drafting, modification and termination including individual or collective dismissals, retirement), unfair dismissals and discrimination claims, settlement agreements or severance packages (negotiation and drafting), non-compete clause, work duration and remuneration, restructurings and more generally day-to-day legal advice to Human Resources managers or high level decision makers. Her clients therefore range from those wishing to set up or develop their business in France (with or without offices) to people who intend settle permanently or not in France (to work, retire or buy a property and hire some local domestic workers). She also deals with matters in relation with cross-border workers (such as French employees seconded in the England or UK employees expatriated in France) and French immigration law related aspects (visas and work permit). Marie is a member of the AVEX (Association of Expatriated French Lawyer) and the AJFB-FBLS (Franco-British Lawyers Society). Marie’s mother tongue is French. She is fluent in English and retains close links with France where she often travels to.
